Yes that’s r****t. You look for reasons to excuse it and by doing that you fuel it and so does he

Defend. I base my opinion that it is NOT a r****t comment based on the FACT that black people seen by black doctors have better outcomes than black people seen by white doctors? There are a variety of reason why this is so, and much of it can be attributed simply to better communication between doctor and patient when both are black. But it is a fact.

And when newborns who can't speak are involved...

"...the GMU study of infant mortality, which looked at the deaths of newborns among 1.8 million hospital births in Florida from 1992 through 2015. For newborns born to Black mothers, the study found that death rates were far higher when the physician delivering and caring for the newborn was White.
“When Black newborns are cared for by Black physicians, the mortality penalty they suffer, as compared with White infants, is halved,” the study found. But being treated by a Black doctor does not completely erase the difference, as “Black infants experience inferior health outcomes regardless of who is treating them.”

So a black man said that
it was 'important that we get medical care from people who look like us' and your takeaway "as a physician" is to feel your integrity was being insulted?

If you really are a physician then you should be familiar with the stats comparing outcomes between black, white and brown for the same conditions at the various hospitals across the country.

Feel insulted if you like. But think about why Rep. Thompson made that statement and ask yourself whether you believe in your heart it was 1) aimed at you personally (obviously not, I hope you agree) 2) white doctors in general (I can't read his mind but I also believe this answer to be a "no' or 3) his understanding that there are diseases and conditions, such as pre-eclampsia, strokes, & heart attacks that are much more prevalent among the black community have a better chance of being caught by people IN that community who understand this at a deep level.

Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

People who don’t support trump believe they stand on higher moral ground. They don’t. The left often thinks they care more about others but the t***h is they don’t

As for what trump said, yes it was callous. But biden supporters forget what biden did during a memorial service for 13 soldiers - he kept looking at his watch and he did that while president. What biden did was even more callous
